Because you all need to hear this.
So this weekend my mom went away to Montauk with her friends. She left around twelve-fifteen, having picked up my best friend Hollie about an hour before. She left and we headed upstairs to hang out. I wound up working on the painting on the back of my door for a half hour, then we watched the super glue episode of Mythbusters. Upon finishing the episode, we then decided to head on downstairs to make dirt cake before two of our other friends arrived at five. There was only one thing we were missing...
Confectioner's Sugar.
With a sigh, I suggested that we head over to 7-11 to get some, and we soon headed out. Just as we walked out my door and down to the sidewalk, this guy drove by in his truck and yelled "Did you see three spanish guys run past here?!"
Thinking the guy to be some random crackpot, we said no and gave him a small look of confusion. After all, it's not every day you walk out of your house and get asked that. So, with the thought in the mind that the guy was definitely on something, we continued on our way to 7-11.
And then a cop drove by.
We began to think that maybe, just maybe, the guy was actually looking for three spanish guys. Our suspicions were confirmed as another cop went by.
And another.
And another.
All in all, cops drove past us about twenty-one times.
So by then we were sort of like "Oh geez, I wonder what's going on." yet still we continued on our way, making small comments about how three spanish guys might come and and take us hostage. But whatever.
Arriving at 7-11, we soon found that they didn't have any Confectioner's Sugar, and I proceeded to call my mom. At first I had wanted to tell her about the strange incident with the cops, but decided to keep the information to myself and simply asked her if I could use something else instead of the sugar. After telling me that I couldn't, she suggested Hollie and I take the bikes over to CVS. Agreeing, we then headed back to my house.
As we turned back onto my block, we were greeted by a rather large group of cops and instantly came to a stop. We studied them for a moment before we decided to take the long way back to my house, and turned around to walk around the entire block. When we turned back onto my block, we counted a total of eleven cop cars and two crime scene vans. As I think this over now, neither one of us really questioned this. We were more concerned on how we were going to get past them with our bikes...
Anyway, we went and got the bikes, taking a few minutes to fill the tires or what not, and set off on our adventure to CVS. Which, upon arriving, we found that they also don't carry Confectioner's Sugar and wound up having to go to the Italian Food Market to get the darn sugar. Once the treasure was obtained, we headed back.
Luckily, by now most of the cop cars had gone and we headed inside to make the cake. An hour later, Nick and Ashley arrived.
Now, Nick's mom had noticed the last few cop cars and vans that were there, and had asked me what was going on. I told her I didn't know exactly, and she suggested that I ask one of the neighbors. So after a half hour of procrastinating, Nick and I headed over.
So as it turns out, guys, a girl in Wyndanch had gotten stabbed by these three spanish kids, who had then taken her ipod, iphone, etc... and then ran to West Babylon, where they then hid in a shed between two of my neighbors houses.
Which, now that I think about it, we passed right by it... Huh...
So yeah, THAT was my biggest adventure this month. And the second police incident to happen over here this well : D
